5 Metabolism Boosters

How many times have you considered your metabolism while on your fitness journey? How much time have you spent trying to speed it up? Understand it? And even measure it?

It is safe to say, that we all know that our metabolism is important. We realize it plays an important role when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle. But for many of us, our understanding of a healthy metabolism is limited.

In a nutshell, our metabolism is what happens inside of our bodies during the chemical processes our bodies undergo. It is SUPER important! I know during the beginning of my health journey, I had no clue what a metabolism was. I just thought my metabolism was, how often and how much I ate. I gradually started to feel that my weight issues were because of my metabolism. But again, I had no clue as to how that worked. I am pretty sure many of you can relate to my lack of knowledge at the time.

Understanding your metabolism is a key to living the healthy lifestyle you desire.

Ensuring that your body is processing all it needs in the healthiest way is how we gain optimal health. Our metabolism is more than just how much we eat and how often we eat. It is our overall systems and how well they are working, resting and repairing.

For the purpose of this article and within the scope of my expertise. I will be sharing some of the ways you can ensure your metabolism is working for you! I urge you to dig deeper into learning more about your own metabolism and the various ways your overall health is impacted by it.

With some feed back from my own clients, and with the help of my own fitness journey. I want to share with you some of the ways you can boost your metabolism.

  1. Getting Adequate Rest:

I placed this at the top of the list because I find this Booster to be the easiest, yet the hardest thing to do. As much as we all think that resting and sleeping is a no brainer. There are so many people who do not rest enough, or at all. When you are looking to get your metabolism going and working on your side. PLEASE make sure you are sleeping enough and that you are scheduling rest time in your list of To Do’s.

2. Stop The Dieting Lifestyle:

But I thought I was supposed to be on a diet to reach my goals? This one is tricky, because on one side we do need to watch how we are eating and ensure we are eating the right way. But that does not mean you need to be on dieting plans that restrict, starve and damage your body. Most of the time the dieting gets you to a destination with no way to keep you there long term. Your aim should be to find a way to eat healthy for life! Finding your healthy portion size and the best alternatives to ensure every meal you eat is serving you for the better. Not overworking your body.

3. Lift Weights:

Even you ladies! Incorporate a balance weight lifting routine into your lives! Lifting weights does not have to end in you looking like that body builder (the one you have in your mind) that you are afraid to look like. You know so of you panic when you hear someone suggest lifting weights. Lifting weights does not automatically bulk you. Lifting weights can assist you in building lean muscle and lean muscles require you to use more calories than body fat does.

4. Inflammatory Free Foods:

Avoid eating fried foods, refined carbohydrates, drinking soda and regularly consuming red meat. These foods make your body work overtime trying to break them down. Most times your body cannot. Please allow me get graphic. I always tell my clients to picture how raw and sore their bodies must look when they are inflamed from trying to combat all the harmful things we consume. Yucky right? But it is true, just because we can’t see it, doesn’t mean it isn’t happening, and eventually you will feel it.

5. Eat Foods That Boost Your Metabolism:
